Minutes from the Delaware Artist Guild meeting on September 22, 2014
President Ken Hildebrand opened this month’s meeting at the Art Castle with a welcome to members and visitors.  He reported that the minutes for the June meeting were posted on the website and needed no changes or corrections.  Treasurer Mike Palmer reported a balance of $105.00.  After some discussion, Ray Wollschleger motioned to change the dues to $25.00.  It was seconded by Kris Kolb and passed with 23 affirmative votes achieving the required two-thirds majority of the members.  Mike asked that dues be paid as soon as possible to determine our membership for the coming year.

Lynda Elias, Exhibition Chairman, reported that the yearly show has been moved to Gallery 22 and will occur from June 5 to August 22, 2015.  The opening will be on the first Friday of June.  More information will be shared throughout the year.  Ken talked with the YMCA regarding our exhibits there.  They will no longer take payments for sales of the art and will refer perspective buyers to the artists directly.  They will also be adding an information screen that will alert the public to any changes to the exhibits.  Lynda asked that members who want their new art up at the Y should bring it on Monday, Sept. 29th at 10:00 or arrange to have someone bring it.  Any art not picked up will be moved to a new location on the wall.

Kris Kolbe did not put out a newsletter for this month but asks members to refer interesting articles to her by the 15th of the month.  She is interested in information about upcoming artist events, places to visit or informative articles.

Ken reminded members that our meetings will be held at a variety of spaces this year so members should be sure and check the location each month before heading out.  Discussion followed about other activities the guild might undertake (field trips, critiques, or workshops).   Richard Kolb agreed to check into a field trip to the Wexner for their upcoming exhibit.  Lynda agreed to help set up a critique group for interested members.  More discussion will occur at the next meeting.

Diane Hodges reminded members of the upcoming Castle Arts Affair and asked for volunteers during the week of 11/6 – 11/9.  Contact the Arts Castle if interested.

Since there was no additional business, the meeting was adjourned and Ken introduced our three members of the Ohio Pastel Artists League who currently have an exhibit at the Castle:  Dr. Bill Westerman, Deb Shatzer and Karen Everhart.  They shared various techniques and suggestions for working with pastels.  Members were invited to view the exhibit at their leisure.

Respectfully submitted,
Virginia Corwin, Secretary
