Minutes for the Delaware Artist Guild Meeting, September 23, 2013

Ken Hildebrand opened the meeting with a welcome to members and recognition of one new member Diane Kreeger. There were 19 members in attendance. He then introduced the officers for the current year.

Secretary: Virginia Corwin was absent, but the minutes for the June minutes have been posted on the web site for some time and there were no corrections offered. Lynda Elias agreed to take notes and Ken will write the minutes for this meeting in Virginia’s absence. These will also be posted for review.

Treasurer: Mike Palmer reported that our current balance of $227 was down about $35 from last year at this time. Significant expenditures included stipends for speakers, a memorial for Barb Timmons, and Spring Show judging and awards. We had 34 members last year, and all members are encouraged to renew their dues before the October meeting and to encourage their friends and associates to join.

Exhibits Chair: Lynda Elias reported that the YMCA exhibit will be changed Wednesday September 25th at 10 am. Members were encouraged to participate. They can bring new work and pick up old work at this time – or as arranged with Lynda.

Ken reported meeting with Harry Pape, Chairman of the City Art Center (CAC), to discuss possible cooperative efforts with DAG including a DAG show. The members strongly supported continued conversations with CAC. There was discussion of other possible show venues including the High Road Gallery and the Symphony Office and potential show ideas including a Postcard Show. Lynda will gather a smaller group of interested members to flesh-out specifics for presentation to the full membership.

Newsletter Chair: Kris Kolb, is interested in receiving items that might be of interest to the guild – book reviews, shows, exhibits, etc.  She will need to receive them by the middle of the month to get them in the newsletter.

Program Chair: Ken thanked the committee for planning a full schedule of meeting programs for the coming year. The schedule is posted on the web site. Since we will be meeting in several different locations, everyone needs to check the schedule for the meeting site.

In October, we will be at the Library where the speaker is Louise Minor, Columbus Museum of Art, telling us about the George Bellows Exhibit. In November, we will meet at the City Art Center and Justin Kronwetter will be our presenter.

There was no additional new business so the meeting was adjourned and Ken introduced our speaker, Susie Gordon who talked about her animal drawing, painting, and felted sculptures.

Respectfully submitted,
Ken Hildebrand for Virginia Corwin, Secretary
