Minutes from the Delaware Artist Guild meeting on November 24, 2014

President, Ken Hildebrand, opened this month's meeting at the Delaware County Library and introduced a new member, Rainy Edwards, to our group.

VirginiaCorwin did not attend the meeting and minutes weren't read. Mike Palmer gave the treasurer’s report and reported 22 paid members which was about the amount that we had last year at this time. Our balance is $535.00 at this time.

Lynda Elias set up December 8th as a date to change the art exhibit at the YMCA at 10:00AM. Artists who can't make this date may change their work when it is convenient but will have to use the same space as last time.

Lynda told the group about the upcoming postcard exhibit to be held at the Art Castle about one year from now and that it will function as a fund raiser for the Art Castle. Art work can be in any media but must be 4"x6". It should be mailed to the Art Castle in a larger envelope marked "Postcard Exhibit" for protection of the art work, at any time during this year. Artists may send in two pieces and are encouraged to invite friends from all over the country who are artists to participate. Please get the word around early so we have a great show! The postcards will be on display for at least 3 weeks and we will end the exhibit with a social event such as a wine tasting party and have a sale of the works. No postcards will be sold before the designated sale! We will sell the postcards for $30.00 a piece. Any work left after the sale will be kept in a binder and sold to guests of the Art Castle for a designated period.

Our yearly exhibit will be held at Gallery 22 this year from June 5th to August 22nd. More information will be given closer to the date. Gallery 22 is now part of the Art Castle and sale of the work will follow the procedure used by the Art Castle. We will need volunteers to gallery sit on Friday and Saturday evenings and possibly other hours.

At this time Benny Shouts mentioned that the Northwest Neighborhood Association was having their eclectic exhibit at Gallery 22 through January and still needed help with gallery sitting. Volunteers should contact Benny.

Diane Hodges mentioned that Frank Ruggles, nationally known photographer, has an exhibit at the Art Castle that will be displayed through January 17th. Information about this can be found on the Art Castle website along with special events connected with the exhibit.

All members are invited to our Annual Christmas Party. This year it is being held at Mary Williams House on Monday December 8 at 6:00 PM. We are buying a ham and everyone is asked to bring a favorite dish to share.

Mike Palmer made a motion to adjourn the meeting. I'll second that.

Our speaker, Megan Nedds, shared her experiences, work, and knowledge as an illustrator at the University of Findlay. She brought in detailed work and explained the process of a book illustrator. She also brought in felted animals that she sells on Etsy. She explained the steps taken to accomplish her craft. It was an amazing and informative program. You can find her on Facebook and become a follower.
