Minutes for the Delaware Artist Guild Meeting, March 25, 2013

President Lori Palmer opened the meeting at 7:30 with a welcome to members and visitors.  She reminded members that the minutes are posted on the website.  Treasurer Mike Palmer was absent but Lori reported that we have $547.67 in the bank and have 34 paid members.  Items for the newsletter should be sent to Kris Kolb by the 13th of each month.

Lynda Elias was absent but passed on information that the exhibit at the YMCA will be changed next Tuesday, April 2 instead of originally planned on March 26.  Lynda will be hanging pieces at 10:00 and would appreciate volunteers to help.  Please contact her if you need to make other arrangements to drop work off.  Information about the June reception will be coming soon.

The dates for the DAG show at the Arts Castle are April 16-May 24.  Take-in dates are Sunday, April 14 from 1-3:00 and Monday, April 15 from 4-6:00.  We have volunteers for both dates.  The exhibit will go up on Tuesday, April 16.  Lynda needs volunteers to help with the hanging.  The judge will be Frank Hobbs from OWU.  Ribbons have been ordered.  Members decided on cash prizes of $50 for Best of Show, $40 for First, $30 for Second and $20 for Third Places.  Flyers will be placed downtown to promote the show.  The opening reception will be Sunday, April 21 from 2-4.  Everyone is asked to bring a finger food to share.  The pick-up date after the show is Friday, May 31.  Lori will be out of town from April 9-19 but Mike will be available.

The Delaware Arts Festival was discussed and Tom Conrad asked for volunteers to help.  When he learned that very few members were available, we decided to cancel for this year.

Robin Mayes from Preservation Parks invited members to submit work with a farming or 1930’s theme to the Living History Farm on April 20.  She can be reached at 740-417-5364.  Tom Conrad shared information about a Frank Webb Watercolor Workshop that will be held July 8 -12 in Bellefontaine.  Ken Hildebrand shared information about a juried arts show at the Barlowe House on May 3 with an arts fair on May 4.  Check the website for more information.  Diane Hodges reminded members of the Northwest Neighborhood show at the City Arts Center through March.  Several members have work there.

Our speaker for April 22 will be Helen Hoffelt, a professor at CCAD.  She will be discussing the concepts behind her digital photography.  We will meet at the Arts Castle at 7:30.  We will not have a meeting in May but our last meeting will be June 3 at the library.  Michelle Aubrecht will speak about video game design.

There was no additional business so the meeting was closed and Mary Williams introduced Brooke Hunter-Lombardi who spoke about her printmaking projects.

Respectfully submitted,  Virginia Corwin, Secretary
