Minutes from the Delaware Artist Guild meeting on January 26, 2015

The January 26, 2015 meeting of the DAG was held at the Delaware Co Library meeting room. The meeting was called to order by President Ken Hildebrand. There were 12 members present and no visitors. The Nov. minutes were posted on the website for review. Our treasurer could not make the meeting but reported that our membership is at 22 and our treasury has $559.97. Ken thanked Mary Williams for hosting the Christmas party.

Lynda Elias reported that the YMCA exhibit will be changed again right after our March meeting. Lynda encouraged all members to submit a 4 x 6 inch post card to the Castle exhibit in late Nov. 2015. The Post Card exhibit will be a fundraiser for the Castle. Our annual exhibit will be held at Gallery 22 this year. Members will be required to gallery sit.

Kris Kolb announced the Castle High School exhibit is up for the month of Feb. The reception is Sunday Feb 1 from 2 - 4:00
The business meeting was adjourned and the program followed. Our speaker was Damianne Fisher, a local mixed media artist. Since 2009, Damianne has been using dryer lint to make her 3D wire sculptures of the female form. The members were interested in how Damianne “cooks” the lint with flour, glue, food coloring and clove oil in her kitchen. The pulp is then used to build her forms over metal cages. Natural, organic items like pods, bird nests, feathers, and dragonfly wings are added. The pieces are stained and polyurethaned. The artist is inspired by music she plays while working, recycled items she collects, and rusty metal pieces she unearthed while working as a landscaper.
