Minutes from the Delaware Artist Guild Meeting on February 26, 2018

President Sharon Gayhart opened the meeting at the Delaware Public Library with a welcome to members and guests.  She then introduced Erin Fletcher from OWU who explained two upcoming collaborations between OWU and Delaware City.  Queen Brooks will be creating a mural of meaningful images of Delaware.  She will be meeting with community members to get their feedback and then complete the project in early April.   A grant is in the works to bring Bret Cook to Delaware to create public art in downtown Delaware.  This will also be a collaborative effort and DAG members are invited to participate.  If interested, contact Erin at OWU.

Discussion followed of the need to update our web page for clarity and information.    Facebook and Instagram were also suggested as other options.  Sharon will contact Barb Stover to see if she is interested in doing the update.  Sharon will also send out an email asking members if they are interested in being listed on the webpage.

Diane Hodges notified members that there were not enough of them signed up to participate in the upcoming exhibit at the Art Castle so the exhibit will be canceled for this year.  She suggested members consider entering their work in the Senior Showcase at the Art Castle from August 20 to October 12.  There will be 60 artists who can enter three pieces with a top prize of $500.    This would also be a good venue to promote membership in the guild.  She also suggested the possibility of adding a pop-up showing of guild art to upcoming shows.

The Art Castle upcoming exhibit is called Focus on Delaware featuring the photography of John Brake, Kris Hyland Kolb, Jeff Nilan and John Holliger.  It will be up from March 14 to April 29.  The Central Ohio Watercolor Society will be there from July 5 to August 11.  The Smith School art auction fundraiser will be at Gallery 22 at the end of April.

Sharon reminded members that it will be time to install new officers soon.  Because of a heavy work schedule she will not be able to be President again next year so suggests we look for a replacement.  Anyone interested should contact her before the next meeting.

Since there was no additional business to discuss, Sharon ended the meeting and introduced our guest artist, Nancy Vance who shared information about her pastel work.
Respectfully submitted,
