Minutes for the Delaware Artist Guild Meeting, February 28, 2011

This month’s meeting was held in Edgar Hall at Ohio Wesleyan.  President Mary Williams opened the meeting at 7:30 with a welcome to members and guests. 

Minutes were not read since they are available on the web site.  Members were reminded that they can now send information and dues to our Post Office Box 234. 

Old Business: 

  • Thanks were given to Lindsay Criswell and her committee for the work they have done to set up the web site. Lindsay reported that the committee members will be trained to update it so that there can be continuity in its operation.    
  • Mike Palmer reported that there is $771.83 in the treasury with 40 paid members and several paying dues tonight.
  • Kris Hyland Kolb again requests that members send her articles, pictures, or ideas that might be of interest for the newsletter. Pat Getha will supply a list of upcoming shows in the Central Ohio area for members to consider.

New Business: 

  • Lynda Elias reported on the upcoming guild exhibit at the Arts Castle.The show will open with a reception on April 17 and stay up until May 28.  The judge will be announced at the next meeting.The charge is $5.00 for one piece and $10 for three. Lynda will be sending out more information this week. Discussion followed on how many meetings members must attend to exhibit. Jim Fought agreed to form a committee to look at the bylaws and suggest ways members could qualify without attending meetings. 
  • Pat Getha agreed to look into leasing or buying screens for the Delaware Arts Festival booth. She will also check to see if there are still screens at Hayes.
  • John Catania shared information about the new City Arts Center on Winter Street that is offering gallery and artist space to local artists.
  • It was recommended that the guild send flowers to Linda Shearer to thank her for her years of service to the guild and wish her well as she closes Corner Framing.
  • Mike Palmer introduced his new web site (columbusohioart.com) that is  opened to Central Ohio artists for a monthly fee of $10 for 12 pieces. He will bring more information to the next meeting.
  • Our speaker for the March 28th meeting is Michelle Stitzlein – who will share information about her Arts Castle exhibit REVIEW, REPURPOSE, RECYCLE; FOUND OBJECT IN ART, which runs March 7 – April 9. 

There was no new business so the meeting was adjourned and Kris Kolb introduced Jim Krehbiel, our speaker for the evening.
