Minutes from the Delaware Artist Guild Meeting on April 28, 2014
President Ken Hildebrand opened the meeting at 7:30 with a welcome and introduction of new members and guests.  The website minutes were approved and Mike Palmer updated the treasury information.  We have 34 members with $132.86 in our account.

Mike shared information about the booth for the Delaware Arts Festival on May 17 and 18.  He sent around a sign-up sheet for volunteers to set up and man the booth.  He also encouraged members to bring work to sell.  The guild takes 10% of the sale price.

Lynda Elias reported on the current DAG show at the Arts Castle.  The judge was very impressed with the quality and variety of work shown and was challenged to pick the winners.  Best of Show went to Lynda Elias, First Place to Mary Williams, Second Place to Jim Fought and Third Place to Linda Henderson.  Honorable mentions went to Janeen Jackson, Linda Henderson, Kris Kolb and Benny Shoultz.  Take-down/pick-up will be on Tuesday, May 27 from 3 - 5 (Lori Palmer) and Wednesday, May 28 from 5 – 7 (Ken Hildebrand).  Members were encouraged to bring new work to the YMCA on Wednesday, May 28 at 9:00 so Lynda and her team can put up the new show.  Remember that there is no extra security for work placed at the Y.

Frances Hamilton spoke to the group about the Main Street Delaware Fine Art, Food and Wine event that will be held at OWU Science Center Atrium on August 15.  This year’s theme is “You Oughta be in Pictures”. Members were encouraged to create pieces for this project and donate them to Main Street Delaware to be auctioned off at the affair.  They will receive two free tickets to the event with their entry.  More information is available on their website.  Main Street will also be sponsoring a Treasure Fest in the fall with a juried show.  Booths will be available to sell art and antiques with a focus on recycling.  Check the website for more details.

Diane Hodges invited members to take part in the Delaware Art Castle 25 Year celebration on Sunday, June 8 from 5 – 7.  There will be Jazz and Art at Monett Garden and a retrospective art show at the Castle.  More information will be shared at next month’s meeting.
Ken presented the officer nominations for 2014 -15.  The current slate agreed to work another year with the hope that other members will step forth (especially Treasurer and Program Chair)  Lynda agreed to host the program planning meeting in August until we have a chair.  Anyone interested in being an officer should contact Ken for details.

There was no additional business so the meeting was adjourned.  Diane Almendinger was our scheduled speaker but was unable to attend because of the death of her husband.  Kris Kolb filled in and shared information about a book making class she is currently taking at OWU.
Respectfully submitted, Virginia Corwin, Secretary.
