Minutes from the Delaware Artist Guild Meeting for April 22, 2013

President Lori Palmer opened this month’s meeting at the Arts Castle with a welcome to members and visitors.  She reminded them that the monthly minutes are on the web and that items for the newsletter need to be sent to Kris Kolb by the 15th of the month.Treasurer Mike Palmer reports that there are 34 paid members and our bank total is $380.46.  His projected the total after all prizes are paid will be $230.

The Guild show is currently up on site so all were invited to check it out.  The turnout for the reception yesterday was good and the award winners are as follows:  Best of Show—Mary Williams, First Prize—Benny Shoults, Second Prize—Rebecca Wallace, Third Prize—Lynda Elias, Honorable Mentions --Mike Palmer, Tom Conrad, and Cindy Smith.  The show will be up through May and members can pick up their work on either Friday, May 31 or Sat., June 1.

Lynda Elias led a discussion of dates to change the YMCA exhibit.  It was agreed to make the change on Wednesday, June 5 at 10:00.  She will work with the Y to set up a reception on June 9 from 2-4.

Due to lack of interest we will not be participating in the Arts Festival this year.  Please consider volunteering your time to help the Arts Castle at their booth.

Lori explained her need to step down as President but offered to support anyone who takes the position.  Ideally we need a President and Vice President who will take over as President the following year.  Virginia agreed to remain as Secretary but we will also need a new Treasurer.  Please let Lori know if you are interested in any of these positions.

We will not have a meeting in May but our last meeting will be June 3 at the Library.  Michelle Aubrecht will speak about video games.

Since there was no more business to discuss, Lori adjourned the meeting and introduced our speaker, Helen Hoffelt, a professor from CCAD who discussed the concepts behind her digital photography.

Respectfully submitted,  Virginia Corwin, Secretary
