MINUTES FROM THE DELAWARE ARTIST GUILD MEETING ON MARCH 24, 2014

President Ken Hildebrand opened the meeting at the Arts Castle at 7:30 with a welcome to members and visitors.  There were no adjustments to last month’s minutes taken by Ken in Virginia’s absence.  Treasurer Mike Palmer reported that we now have 33 members and $320 in the account with the web posting paid for this year.

Mike also shared information about the Art Festival coming on May 17 and 18.  He will be bringing a sign-up sheet to the next meeting.  Members are asked to consider volunteering for 2 -3 hour shifts.  He will check into getting screens from Hayes to use in the booth and will recruit members to help set up the tent.

A motion was made by Ken and seconded by Lori to send flowers to Tom Conrad who has been having serious health concerns.

Lynda Elias gave an Exhibits Committee report.  The changeover of the YMCA exhibit will be Tuesday, March 25 at 9:30.  She, Virginia, Ken, Lori and Pat will help hang the work.

The annual Art Castle show will be from April 27 to May 26.  Ken will send an email giving all of the information.  The entry fee is $5.00 for one and $10 for up to three.  The castle receives 30% commission on sales.  They also need an insurance value on any work you submit.  Two copies of the form need to be filled out and brought with entries on drop off days.  Barbara Stover will make the tags and program.  Lynda asked for recommendations for a judge.  Jim Fought will contact Susan Asceta from Clintonville to see if she is available.  Ken has ordered ribbons and awards for BOS ($50), 1st ($40), 2nd ($30), 3rd ($20), and 3 Honorable Mention.  Lori will help with the reception setup and provide punch.  Members are asked to bring finger foods.  Items can be picked up on Tues. 5/27 from 3-5 and Wed 5/28 from 5-7 and signed out in the office.

Ken reported that the NNA Carriage House Hop planned for May has been canceled.  Main Street Delaware is planning a special event on Saturday, 9/27 with booths and music and DAG is invited to participate.  We should get more information at our next meeting.  Diane Hodges invites members to be part of the Jazz and Art in Monett Garden that will be part of the Arts Castle 25th Anniversary Celebration on June 8.  Benny invites guild members to consider being part of the City Arts Center NNA show in November, December and January.  He will have more details at the next meeting.

Since there was no additional business the meeting was adjourned and Ken introduced Mary Williams who shared information about the current Art Castle Zoo Views Exhibit.

Respectfully submitted,
Virginia Corwin, Secretary
